Today, on June 20th 2024, it is the Summer Solstice (in this hemisphere). Today, I also celebrate and honor 39 years of being alive. I celebrate all of the twists and turns, the aches and pains, the illnesses I’ve overcome and live with today. I celebrate my own healing and growth. Part of my growth from this year has been in my completion of a 9 month spiritual direction practicum with Still Harbor! I am so so grateful to have inherited the wisdom of the Still Harbor curriculum as an abolitionist and disability justice-fueled approach to spiritual care, and I hope to carry on these teachings in my own work as a spiritual care giver. On here, I am many things. I am a musician, I am an herbalist, and I am a Jewish person sitting with immense grief from the last 9 months who cannot stand to see a genocide being enacted in my name. I am a person who wishes to untangle the trauma and the oppression from our sense of safety and connection to each other. I am a person who wishes this Solstice season for great transformation and repair to occur. For healing to mean caring about others’ healing. For healing to look like reconnecting our shattered parts to make something new again. I find myself turning to spiritual care because it brings me great joy to witness people on this spiritual path of re-connecting, grieving, and wrestling. It is an honor to hold space for others who especially care about collective liberation and how we may show up for this moment.
